The state House Transportation Committee has advanced a bill that would increase speed limits on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to 70 mph for all vehicles.

Expect almost nonstop budget talk until the close of the current fiscal year at the end of June, said Democratic and Republican spokesmen in the state House and Senate.

The Lancaster County Transportation Coordinating Committee on Monday released its draft transportation improvement plans for public comments.

YRC Worldwide Inc., the Kansas-based trucking conglomerate with a midstate presence, today said its institutional lenders agreed to loosen some terms of its debt agreements and let the company keep all proceeds from auctions of surplus properties.

Some early numbers from around the country are showing signs of improvement that could mean a better year for general aviation in Central Pennsylvania. But some groups think the data still are too nebulous to say for certain whether business flights will break through the wall of higher fuel prices.
