Energy Symposium 2013
Those attending the Central Penn Business Journal's 2013 Energy Symposium learned about how to cut energy costs for their businesses, what the future of shale gas looks like and more.
The event, held at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg in Camp Hill, featured Mohsen Bonakdarpour, managing director of IHS Global Insight, as the keynote speaker. Bonakdarpour's speech, "America's New Energy Future: The Unconventional Revolution and the New Economy," focused on growth in the unconventional oil and gas industries in the past 15 years and expected industry growth through 2035.
J.P. Ghio, vice president of supply for UGI Utilities, spoke about the natural-gas market, including the impact the Marcellus Shale has had on pricing.
And a panel of three experts — James H. Cawley, commissioner of the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission; Jeffrey Norton, partner at Harrisburg Law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott; and Dan Kerr, director of energy services at McClure Co. — spoke about varying aspects of the open energy marketplace and how businesses can save money on energy costs.
