Sal and Joan Chandon have owned the inn near Gettysburg for 10 years, during which time they have "done intensive upgrades while preserving the integrity of the property," according to a news release. They now plan to retire.
The inn is already booked solid for much of 2013, they said, and it will be a turn-key sale with the new owner expected to take title sometime after the holidays, after becoming acquainted with the staff and guests.
The inn has been in continuous operation since the 1700s and was built 19 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It hosts many motorcoach groups on trips to Gettysburg.
The inn is at 15 W. Main St., Fairfield. The auction, conducted by Fortna Auctioneers and Marketing Group, will begin at 11 a.m.
